Orrville High School students explored a wide range of career pathways at the JA Inspire Career Fair at the Wayne County Fairgrounds.
The event gave students a hands-on career exploration experience, allowing them to connect directly with local employers, industry professionals, skilled trades, public safety agencies, businesses, and community organizations.
Throughout the event, students did much more than simply visit information tables. They participated in interactive activities, learned about apprenticeship opportunities, explored careers in skilled trades and manufacturing, experienced public safety demonstrations, and discovered career options available throughout Wayne County and Northeast Ohio.
JA Inspire is designed to help students connect their interests, abilities, and future goals with real-world career opportunities. Experiences like this allow students to better understand the education, training, technical skills, and workplace expectations associated with different professions.
For some students, the next step after graduation may be a four-year college. For others, it may be career and technical education, an apprenticeship, military service, a two-year degree, or entering the workforce. Providing students with opportunities to explore all of these pathways is an important part of preparing them for life after high school.
One of the event's most valuable aspects was the chance for students to interact directly with professionals in these careers. Those conversations help students understand what different jobs involve, the skills employers look for, and the many pathways that can lead to a successful career.
A special Red Rider shout-out goes to Orrville High School Counselor Chrissi Anderson for coordinating this opportunity for our students. Her work in connecting students with career exploration experiences helps them make more informed decisions about their futures.
Thank you to Junior Achievement, the Wayne County Fairgrounds, and all of the participating businesses, organizations, trades, public safety agencies, and volunteers who invested their time in our students.
Career exploration becomes especially meaningful when students can see it, experience it, ask questions, and begin to picture themselves in their future careers. JA Inspire gave our Red Riders that opportunity.
