Several Orrville City Schools students were recognized during the Heartland Education Community meeting held at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at The J.M. Smucker Company headquarters. Heartland Education Community brings together community leaders and volunteers who meet regularly to support Orrville’s students and strengthen the connection between school and community.
Why these students were recognized
Heartland’s student recognitions align with its long-running “Words of the Month” character program, which highlights shared values across Orrville. Each month features a specific character trait, and students are selected for demonstrating that trait in meaningful, everyday ways at school and in the community.
Because the February character word is Commitment, these students were recognized for showing commitment through their attitudes, effort, and follow-through, including doing their best, being dependable, and sticking with goals even when something is challenging.

A community that shows up for kids
Heartland’s work reflects a simple belief: when the community shares responsibility for supporting students, kids thrive. That’s why Heartland continues to invest time, energy, and resources into programs that build character, strengthen mentoring, and expand student opportunities.
Congratulations to each of these students and their families. Thank you for representing Orrville with pride and for showing what commitment looks like in action.
